Welcome to the Sleep Disorder Center

How are you sleeping?

Sleep CenterIf you are one of the six percent of the American population who have difficulty falling and staying asleep, suffer from breathing disturbances, periodic leg movement disorder or parasomnias such as sleepwalking, then you know all too well that a good night’s sleep is an elusive dream.

Sleep disorders can be caused by many factors, from daily stress to lifestyle changes. The effect of sleep deprivation influences one’s physical, social and emotional health, while impacting how that person thinks, works, interacts, drives, and performs just about every other normal activity throughout their day. If left untreated, disrupted sleep can cause high blood pressure, weight gain, impotency, headaches and can even increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke.

Our Services

Sleep CenterThe Massac Memorial Hospital Sleep Disorders Center is the newest addition to our continuum of care offered to the families who live and work in Massac County and its surrounding areas.

We are now accepting new patients at our newly appointed facility. Our primary objective is to help those in need to get their answers and put their sleep problems to bed. We look forward to the opportunity to serve your needs and help you get the rest you need to remain healthy.

At the Massac Memorial Hospital Sleep Disorders Center, our dynamic team of technicians and specialists are ready to work with you to find the source of your sleeplessness and then provide the treatment needed to end your suffering. After a physical examination and communication about the symptoms, you will work with our team where they will conduct a sleep study. Once completed, your study will be read by a physician who specializes in sleep disorders who will then provide a detailed report for the referring physician. Together, they will work with you to decide on the best course of treatment and follow-up care.

The sleep study is designed with your comfort in mind and is conducted in furnished rooms that resemble your bedroom at home. During the study, patients are observed by staff and monitored by a painless, skin surface polysomnograph, which analyzes sleep patterns, monitors brain waves, muscle and eye movements.

Following the study, clinic specialists work with you and your physician to recommend a treatment plan. In order to understand all of the underlying causes of sleep disturbance, follow-up studies may be recommended to ensure complete and comprehensive treatment and recovery.

We know the value of a good night's sleep and appreciate how difficult it can be to live with disruptive sleep. We are here to help restore your sweet dreams.

Fast Facts

How do I deal with a loved one who snores.
Many families have at least one member who is known for their snoring. Besides distracting bed partners or roommates, chronic snoring can be a sign of a more serious condition. It can interfere with the sleep quality of the snorer and anyone in earshot. There is also mounting evidence that it may lead to other medical conditions such as heart disease.

Physicians on the Massac Memorial Hospital medical staff are independent contractors who have been granted privileges at Massac Memorial Hospital. They are not employees or agents of the hospital.
